The party spokesperson JP Dhanopia said that this has happened probably for the first time that a day after notification is issued, the process to file nomination has begun.

"The youth who turn 18 on January 1 and would get the right to vote, are being deprived from their voting right, because of this haste in electoral process," he alleged.

Dhanopia further said that by declaring the date of announcement of results, even before the final round of voting, the SEC has turned the entire exercise, suspicious. The Congress leader urged the state election commissioner R Parasuram to amend the electoral schedule and move it ahead by a week.
