The department has sought specific details on why members of the Dalit Ahirwar community were not provided work under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme despite having job cards. A fact-finding team of two voluntary organisations from Bhopal has come out with a report on the dire situation faced by Dalit community members in at least four villages of Gadarwara tehsil in Narsinghpur after they decided to stop doing the traditional job of removing dead animals and skinning them.
The HT carried a detailed report on November 28. The fact-finding team said that while the Dalits were refused share in crops despite promise, they were also deprived of NREGS work and benefits of other government scheme. The report has been sought within a week.
