Appreciating work of eco clubs, principal chief conservator of forests (IT) Anil Oberoi said that a number of eco clubs are doing commendable job in MP under the National Green Corps Scheme.

Oberoi was speaking on a one-day environment orientation workshop under the National Green Corps Scheme on Thursday organised by the environmental planning and coordination organisation (EPCO).

With the introduction of online system, these clubs will also contribute to environmental conservation by saving papers, he said.

Presiding over the function, EPCO executive director Manohar Dube said that exchange of environment-related information has become easier with introduction of online report sending by eco clubs.

EPCO director (training) Ambreesh Shrivastava said that apart from tree plantation, eco clubs will also have to create awareness about other aspects of environment like cleaning of reservoirs, eradication of polythene, sanitation around houses etc.
