The son of a retired police inspector and the former’s domestic help were arrested on Saturday evening for allegedly killing a businessman in Mandla district.
Rinku Jyotshi and Brajesh were arrested for the murder of jaggery trader Ramesh Sahu.
“Sahu was a jaggery trader and it was normal for him to carry Rs 3-4 lakh cash with him”, Mandla additional superintendent of police Omkar Kulesh told HT. Kulesh said Rinku has confessed he called Sahu to his house on September 20, with the intention of taking his money. However, Sahu had little money with him at that time. Rinku and Sahu then had an altercation, leading to the latter’s death.
After killing him, Rinku and Brajesh reportedly chopped off Sahu’s hands and legs, packed his limbs and trunk in separate travel bags and dumped the bags in the Narmada river.
The police have recovered the bag containing Sahu’s trunk from the side of the river, near Deodhara. The second bag carrying hands and legs is yet to be found.
