Bheraghat is a well known tourist spot in Jabalpur, frequented by hundreds of people.

While locals managed to save the brother, the woman, an advocate from Uttar Pradesh, died. Her body was later fished out by the local police.

Bheraghat police station in-charge Jitendra Yadav said Vishwa Bandhu Vishta and his family from Hathras district of UP were visiting Bheraghat. Around 12.30 pm, Vinita (29) and her younger brother Vinayak (21) were standing on the rocks of Bheraghat clicking selfies. Suddenly Vinayak slipped and fell into the river, flowing around 100 feet below. Seeing her brother fall, Vinita, too, jumped after him.

Locals and divers there managed to save Vinayak, but Vinita died. After an hour’s search, her body was fished out, police said.
