Director Mohit Suri, who has directed musical Aashiqui 2, says he feels more responsible towards those audiences who haven’t seen the original 1990 film.
“I feel more responsible making Aashiqui 2 for those people who don’t know about Aashiqui. People who are 21 or 22 years old, or like my cousin Alia, who wasn’t born that time. I feel more responsibility to connect to those people,” says Mohit.
“The people who have already watched Aashiqui will come to watch it to pull it down. They will come to say that Aashiqui was good. I want to connect to those who don’t know about the music of that Aashiqui. I know there are few (such people), but that’s the responsibility,” he adds.
Ask him about the commercial viability of the movie, and Mohit says, “The film stands alone on its own ground. I won’t be making this film with newcomers if I was in that ball game of R100 crore.”
