Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were spotted at the home of her mother in Bandra after a minor fire broke out in her building on Tuesday. A senior fire brigade official told PTI that the fire started on the 13th floor of the building.

No injuries were reported at the 16-storey building, La Mer, as the fire was controlled almost immediately. The actor used to live in the building before her wedding as did cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar.

“Our fire control room received a call at 12.50 pm regarding the fire that broke out on the 13th floor of La Mer building located in Bandra West,” the official said adding that the fire fighting team was pressed into service immediately.

Mumbai’s Chief Fire officer, P S Rahangdale, said, “There was a timely response from the fire brigade team. However, the fire fighting systems in the apartment were not in place. The blaze was doused before it could spread.”

“The blaze was brought under control within time and there was no injury to anyone in the incident,” he said.

Aishwarya and Abhishek were spotted talking to her mother, Vrinda Rai, in the building compound, looking visibly worried. When contacted, Aishwarya’s spokesperson told IANS: “Aishwarya is grateful and overwhelmed by the concern shown by her well-wishers and thanks them.”
