The Ministry Of Defence has asked for the preview of Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Aiyaary before it goes to the Central Board Of film Certification (CBFC).

A source in the film’s production department told Hindustan Times, “Since Aiyaary is set against the army backdrop, the Defence Ministry wants to review the film.”

The trailer of Aiyaary suggests that the film showcases corruption within the system, and thus it has been, reportedly, put under screening by the ministry.

The source further said that the makers of Aiyaary are worried about the situation in which the film fails to procure a certificate from the board. That has the potential of jeopardising the film’s overseas distribution.

We have reached out to the film’s director, Neeraj Pandey, for his take on latest developments. We will update the story as and when he responds.

Aiyaaryis the story of two strong-minded army officers having completely different views, yet right in their own ways. The film portrays Sidharth Malhotra as an army officer sharing a mentor-protege bond with Manoj Bajpayee. Aiyaary also stars Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra in pivotal roles.
