The book Bhagavad Gita – Saying it the Simple Way, was launched yesterday by actor Akshay Kumar in New Delhi. Written by author Vijay Singhal, the book, an adaptation of Bhagavad Gita, consists of translation of shlokas from Gita in simple Hindi and English, which helps the readers understand these couplets better. The language is simple, with the aim to stick to the point, as extensive descriptions can often diverge from the main plot.
The launch was preceded by a discussion between Akshay and Vijay, and anchored by Dr Annurag Batra, and revolved around the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita and its teachings.
“Mr Singhal has written 10 books till now. I wish he writes an 11th book, which compiles the best points of Bhagvad Gita, Quran, Guru Granth Sahib and Bible. That book should be made compulsory in all schools.” — Akshay Kumar, actor
The moderator asked Akshay if he feels that the Gita should be made mandatory in all schools in India, to which the actor replied, “Mr Singhal has written 10 books till now. I wish he writes an 11th book, which compiles the best points of Bhagvad Gita, Quran, Guru Granth Sahib and Bible. That book should be made compulsory in all schools.”
Vijay Singal is an eminent author in the field of philosophy, religion, psychology and spirituality. He said, “In these frenetic times, one can easily get swayed by the goings on in society, and find that time has flown by, leaving one rather dishevelled and deteriorated, perhaps not so much physically, as mentally. The message that shlokas give us is that we need to look at the bigger picture. We need to control our thoughts and not worry unendingly.”
The book also aims to educate its readers about what’s the ultimate purpose of life, the truth behind our existence and the means by which we can achieve spiritual fulfilment along with materialistic success.
