Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi is about a Kashmiri girl married to a Pakistani officer. The film is set against the backdrop of 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

The title track of Alia Bhatt’s next film Raazi is out and it is everything you asked for. The song, voiced by Arijit Singh, is dedicated to Sehmat’s grit and determination to complete her tasks as an Indian spy. Composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the song is about a young woman’s transformation into a deadly spy, and what it takes to be undercover behind enemy lines.

Most of the visuals used in the song are taken from the trailer and the previously released song Dilbaro. The new ones added are mostly about her training in an Indian army camp. It includes the complete process of bomb making and some hand-to-hand combat skills.

The two-minute video increases the viewers’ interest in the film which no more seems like an emotional drama. The song video suggests that it could easily be a thriller as well.

This is for the first time that Alia will be seen on screen with her mother Soni Razdan in a film. Soni talked about Raazi in an interview to IANS. She said, “I don’t get any role. People do not come and offer me (roles). Maybe they don’t think of me at all. Like my audience, even I wonder why I do not get offers more often. I think my career is of a big perception of others.”

She added, “Once Alia became a successful actress, people started thinking that I am only travelling around the world with her. In my young days, people failed to slot me anywhere as an actress.”

Based on the book, Calling Sehmat by Harinder Sikka, Raazi will hit the screens on May 11.
