Ameesha-Kushal Twitter war: 7 other bizarre celebrity spats
Twitter is the new battleground for celebrities and they are not mincing words here.bollywood Updated: Oct 27, 2015 17:00 IST
Whatever side of the divide you decide to stand on in the Ameesha Patel-Kushal Tandon Twitter meltdown, the fact is that this is one fight that grossed us out totally. The dirty war of words (that is, if it was one), and then Ameesha’s bizarre explanation pushed celebrity spats on social media to a new low.
It all started when Kushal tweeted about a ‘woman’ who didn’t get up from her seat when the National Anthem started playing before the start of a film show. Turned out, it was Ameesha Patel.
This incensed Ameesha so much that she wasted no time in launching an attack on Kushal.
Whoever that so called kushal Tandon is is a a real jackass n invades privacy of women— ameesha patel (@ameesha_patel) October 26, 2015
Within minutes, the exchanges became ugly.
Idiot kushal Tandon had the nerve to tweet that I didn't get up during national anthem. Did the jackass ask why?— ameesha patel (@ameesha_patel) October 26, 2015
Women we all need to slap kushal. I had the monthly girly problem. Getting up wud have caused a blood flow on the theatre ground— ameesha patel (@ameesha_patel) October 26, 2015
This is not, however, the first time celebrities locked horns with each other on social media in full public glare. In May this year, Bollywood actors Rishi Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha were so riled with singer Abhijeet when he compared pavement dwellers with stray dogs in a Tweet soon after the verdict on Salman Khan’s 2002 hit-and-run case, that they asked him to ‘shut up’.
This is what Abhijheet had written on Twitter: Kutta rd pe soyega kutte ki maut marega, roads garib ke baap ki nahi hai I ws homles an year nvr slept on rd @BeingSalmanKhan @sonakshisinha — abhijeet (@abhijeetsinger) May 6, 2015
Ashamed of Abhijit the singer and some Ejaz Khan. Bunch of idiots and non starters. How does Times Now get these losers on Prime Time— rishi kapoor (@chintskap) May 6, 2015
Sonakshi was also tagged in Abhijeet’s tweet, so she also responded.
I support my friend but i would never support such insensitive and negative talk. Please dont tag me in ur tweets @abhijeetsinger sir.— Sonakshi Sinha (@sonakshisinha) May 6, 2015
Ram Gopal Varma, the king of controversies, proved no one can ever dethrone him from his position when he made fun of Karan Johar’s film Student Of The Year in 2013.
If someone takes off from Karan johar's Student of the year and makes Teacher of the year it will become the Disaster of the year— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) September 5, 2013
Not the one to keep quiet at this affront, Johar didn’t mince his words on Twitter and reacted in kind.
@RGVzoomin ....Disaster of the year is your territory Ramu...no one can ever replace the comfortable place you have made for yourself there.— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) September 5, 2013
Later, RGV also made fun of Anurag Kashyap’s box office disaster Bombay Velvet in May, 2015. And, as expected, Kashyap hit back.
The bottom line is everyone makes an AAG and till he makes his own AAG he will bitch about others AAGS until he too burns in his own AAG— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) May 15, 2015
@RGVzoomin sir i love you too much.. now put that Vodka aside and sleep.. lots of kisses— Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) May 17, 2015
Novelist Shobhaa De faced Sonam Kapoor’s ire when the columnist used very harsh words in her review of the actor’s eminently forgettable 2010 film, I Hate Luv Storys. Sonam tweeted, “Guys pls don’t take Shobhaa De seriously. She’s a fossil who’s getting no action and going through menopause. So just for her...(sic).”
Deepika Padukone’s epic fight with a national daily made headlines for weeks last year. Padukone reacted to one tweet that presented her in a bad taste.
Supposedly India's 'LEADING' newspaper and this is 'NEWS'!!?? pic.twitter.com/D3wiVVXuyM— Deepika Padukone (@deepikapadukone) September 14, 2014
Hollywood is not immune to such fights either. Singers Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj battled it out on Twitter. It was about Swift’s video that got nominated for MTV Music Awards. Minaj took a jibe on Swift that she deliberately showed skinny girls in her video and it doesn’t feature real women.
@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 21, 2015
Actor Amanda Bynes stooped to a new low when she commented on singer Rihanna’s skin colour. She also referred to an old incident in which Rihanna’s former boyfriend Chris Brown beat her up.
Bynes wrote while tagging Rihanna: You look so ugly tryin (sic) to be white. She further wrote, “Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.”
Rihanna refused to take it hands down, and she was sarcastic in her reply.
Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?— Rihanna (@rihanna) May 26, 2013
Looks like the heat is only going to rise on Twitter in coming days.
