Barfii is set to hit theatres after the completion of the Indian Premier League, 2012. Of late, reports have been doing the rounds that just 25 per cent of the film has been shot, and the shooting schedules have been delayed largely due to leading lady Priyanka Chopra’s erratic dates.

“I don’t know why and where such stories come from. The fact is that Barfii was always slotted for a post-IPL release and we are on course to meet that deadline,” says director Anurag Basu.

It has also been reported that thanks to Priyanka, the film that was supposed to go on the floors in March this year, kick-started a few months later.

“I also read reports of how Priyanka only shot for six days. But the truth is that we were supposed to shoot with her for just six days. Later, we had to shoot with Ileana D’Cruz. So, where’s the delay?” rues Basu.

He adds that it was his decision to start the shooting on installment dates because he didn’t want to wait to get all the actors’ dates at the same time “No one has delayed my shoot. We are getting breaks in between schedules the way we wanted.”

Basu also adds that Priyanka has a different set of sequences, while Ranbir and Illeana have separate schedules.

“So, there are few common dates required. Priyanka has, in fact, given her 100 per cent for the film. She has given all the time for workshops too. And whenever I asked Priyanka to make time for practice sessions, she always obliged,” says Basu, adding that his shoot will be over by February.

“So, I will be ready with the film on any date the producers (UTV) want during or after IPL. There are a lot of back-to-back films releasing post the cricket series, so they have to find a proper window for it.”
