Big box office clash: Rustom wins big against Mohenjo Daro on first day

Mohenjo Daro is Hrithik’s second collaboration with the filmmaker after the 2008 film Jodhaa Akbar.

The big box office clash is on. Akshay Kumar’s Rs 65 crore thriller Rustom is fighting it out against Hrithik Roshan’s Rs 120-crore mega budget film Mohenjo Daro at the ticket window. And, Rustom has emerged as the favourite to win this race after the opening day collections of both the films are revealed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Rustom is the 4th, while Mohenjo Daro is the 9th biggest opener of this year.

Mohenjo Daro. the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial has incurred $472,000 in the Gulf region, while in North America, the film is estimated to close at $250,000 (currently at $207,000 with 46 screens yet to report).

Mohenjo Daro also stars Pooja Hegde and Kabir Bedi.

On the other hand, it’s a great news for Rustom which is released on lesser number of screens than Mohenjo Daro. Compared to Mohenjo Daro’s 2700 screens, Rustom got only 2500 screens.

Rustom’s upperhand was expected in this battle, but the numbers are expected. This has also made Rustom the 4th highest opener of 2016.

Mohenjo Daro may lag on day 1, but it has also managed to enter the top 10 big openers of this year.

Mohenjo Daro can still catch up with Rustom as it has got favourable reviews.
