Docs ask Rajni to wait again

A few days ago, Rajinikanth delighted his fans by confirming that he was “completely cured and fit”. But the rejuvenated and healthy-looking star isn’t allowed to put the shooting of his long-stuck film, Rana, in motion yet. Doctors have asked him to “wait for some time.”
The story goes like this: after months of treatment and rest, Rajni — a week ago — started feeling better. He was keen to re-start shooting for Rana. But since his doctors haven’t given a green signal yet, Rajni’s family doesn’t want him to take any risk.
As a result, Rana — that was supposed to hit the floors by the year-end — has now shifted to February 2012. Rajni too admits that since Rana is an action and costume drama, it will exert “too much of physical strain” on him. The Robot star has also hinted that Rana might only start by early February 2012. But director KS Ravikumar is non-committal.
“I met Rajni sir around 10 days ago. He is feeling good now but doctors have asked him to wait for some time before starting the shoot. He will be required to do some heavy-duty stunts like flying, riding horses and sword fighting, which will put a lot of strain on him. That’s why doctors don’t want him to start shooting immediately,” says Ravikumar.
Refuting reports that Rana might be shelved; the filmmaker adds no dates have been locked yet to re-start the shoot. “We are also not in a hurry to start the film. Let him be 100 per cent fit,” says Ravikumar, adding that the female lead Deepika Padukone too has been kept in the loop about it.
For the uninitiated, during the first schedule of Rana in April, Rajinikanth fell ill on the sets and was admitted to hospital. Later, he flew to Singapore for a month and a half, undergoing medical treatment at Mount Elizabeth hospital there. The star was discharged last month, but continued to stay in the island country for periodic check-ups and sufficient rest. Due to Rajni’s health, the dates for Rana are being constantly pushed ever since he came back to India from Singapore in July.
Not real Rajni in RA.One?
Rajinikanth’s special cameo in RA.One was surely its USP. But now, reports have come up that the minute-long cameo of Rajni aka Chitti of Robot was graphically created and isn’t real. The VFX team reportedly created a replica and imaging of Rajni even before he landed in Mumbai. And then, the sequence was brought to life by using Motion Capturing (MoCAP) technique after taking textures from Rajni’s Robot sequences.
Also, sensors were put on Rajinikanth’s face and his facial expressions were captured through MoCAP.
Also, to meet the release deadline, Rajni’s voice was also apparently recorded on the VFX machine and not at a dubbing studio. Director Anubhav Sinha and SRK remained unavailable for comments.
