Casting for the remake of a superhit film has to be a tough task, given the unavoidable comparisons to the original actors. But when director Apoorva Lakhia announced plans to remake Zanjeer (1973) earlier this year, one thought the cast (as per media reports) looked promising — south actor Ram Charan Teja as inspector Vijay Shrivastav, Priyanka Chopra as Mala, Arjun Rampal as Sher Khan, Prakash Raj as Teja and Mahi Gill as Mona.

But ask Arjun about playing Sher Khan (the role that was played in the original by Pran) and he says, “I don’t know if I’m part of the Zanjeer remake. During the initial meetings, I liked the script, but I haven’t seen Apoorva since. I will be meeting him soon.”

Does that mean that Arjun might not be doing the film? “No. The role sounds exciting. Ninety-nine per cent, I am doing the film, but we are going back and forth on a few matters. This month, things should clear up. I’ve committed to Apoorva on doing it (the film).” The actor, who will soon be seen in director Prakash Jha’s next film, Chakravyuh, adds, “I am also going to work in Prakash’s Satyagraha, but we haven’t discussed that in detail. I’ve told him I want be in all his films!”
