Drishyam director Nishikant casts actors sharing good rapport

"All my actors have been friends with each other. This helps as there are no formalities on the sets and it’s fun to work," says the director whose recent movie has won quite a few hearts.

Ajay and Tabu, who were last seen together in Thakshak (1999), were more than happy to work with each other in Kamath’s film, which he feels helped the film’s success.

“I don’t think I will ever cast actors who have issues with each other. Why would I even want to get into something like that? Fortunately, all my actors have been friends with each other. This helps as there are no formalities on the sets and it’s fun to work,” he says, adding, “If the actors share a good chemistry, the team becomes like a family and this really helps work.”

Kamat also adds that he makes it a point to get to know his actors well before he starts shooting the film. “I think it is very important to know my actors personally. I play around their strengths and this really helps their performance. It also helps them give more realistic performances,” he says.

Kamat adds that while box office collections have never really mattered to him, he tries to ensure that the money spent on the film is recovered. “Honestly, I just want my producer to be happy. He must get back the money that he has invested. Rest, it is all a number game and I really don’t get into it,” he says.
