Ghanchakkar starts slow at box office

After receiving flak from critics, Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer Ghanchakkar made a slow start, collecting over Rs. 7 crore on the opening day. The overseas collections, too were average with UK earnings nearing Rs. 24 lakhs.

Ghanchakkar started slow on the box office on Friday with average collections of Rs 7.2 crore on day one.

The film, which came riding on high expectations from brilliant combinations of Rajkumar Gupta and Vidya Balan (after No One Killed Jessica) and Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan (after The Dirty Picture) failed to score much overseas too.

Ghanchakkar collected NZ$ 3,165 (Rs 1.46 lakhs) in New Zealand while the Australia collections averaged at A$ 12,740 (Rs 6.93 lakhs). The UK earnings were slightly better at £ 25,730 (Rs 23.29 lakhs).
