Remember the shy Punjabi belle, Harleen, from Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal (2009)? Her real life avatar, Brazilian actor Giselli Monteiro, is now set to don a different look in her second Bollywood outing, Always Kabhi Kabhi, produced by Shah Rukh Khan. The actor is excited about her modern look, donning funky tees, shorts and leather boots. The model-turned-actor, however, describes her character Aishwarya as “sweet and shy”.

“In Love Aaj Kal, I played a character from the 1960s. But this time around, I will be seen in a completely fresh avatar,” says Giselli. “Since the set-up is very different, the outfits worn by me have are different too.”

Not many, including the actor, know that producer SRK wanted director Roshan Abbas to cast Giselli in the film. “I didn’t know about it in the beginning. When Roshan told me about it, I was very excited. After all, he is the real superstar,” says Giselli, who has just returned from Brazil.

This time, the actor will also be heard speaking a mix of Hindi and English in the film. Ask Giselli if her co-star Zoa Morani has outpaced her on the publicity trail and she shoots back, “I don’t see myself competing with Zoa. During the shoot, we became very close. And I am not just saying this to sound nice.”
