Honey Singh turns hero, tries comedy

Desi rapper Honey Singh, who courted controversies for his songs allegedly based on sexual themes, will play the lead role in the upcoming Punjabi film, Main Tera Bai Tu Mera Bai, alongside Punjabi star Amrinder Gill.

But Honey Singh clears it’s a one-off project and that he had refused it earlier. “When this director-friend of mine, Amit Prasher, offered me this comedy about two brothers, I refused. But he was hurt. He said, ‘Tu doosre ki picture kar sakta, mera nahin?’ I had to say yes,” says the rapper.

“I’ve just begun to explore the musician in me. It will be a long time before I feel confident to make the jump into acting like Himesh Reshammiya did,” adds Honey Singh, who had done a cameo in another Punjabi film, Mirza.
