She ruled the roost in the 90s and has interesting projects in her kitty even today. But Madhuri Dixit, 46, says that she doesn’t feel like a superstar.
“I am an actor and an entertainer and I want to continue doing good work. I’m a daughter, a sister, a wife and a mother…. and in this list of priorities, the feeling of I being a superstar is at the bottom,” said Madhuri, at the promotional event of her upcoming film, Gulaab Gang, in Macau.
Gulaab Gang, which will mark Madhuri’s return to the silver screen in a full-fledged role after six years, is said to be based on the life of social activist, Sampat Pal. The actor, however, rubbishes the claim. “The film is not a documentation of Sampat Pal’s life. It is an all-women masala film about a gang of women fighting against injustice,” said Madhuri who has performed stunts and is also making her singing debut with this film. “I enjoyed doing the action scenes, even though they weren’t easy. I don’t know if I will continue singing but I agreed to sing this time because the song sounded appropriate for the film,” she said.
The film also stars her arch rival from the 90s, Juhi Chawla. Asked about the experience of working with Juhi, she said, “We got along very well and had a great time doing scenes together. After shooting, we used to talk about kids and family.”
