Though Shootout At Wadala (SAW) has been promoted by John Abraham and Tusshar Kapoor among other actors from the cast, the film’s leading lady, Kangna Ranaut, has been missing in action.
Explaining her absence, she quips, “I wanted to promote SAW, but I am not one to go out of my way to get publicity. This is not the first time this is happening to me. If you (producers Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta) don’t want me, then why should I put myself out there?”
A few months ago, a report claimed that Kangna was miffed with the fact that the makers hosted launch events for the three special numbers in the movie and focussed more on item girls Priyanka Chopra, Sunny Leone and Sophie Choudry.
Ask her if this experience has ruined her relationship with the makers, and Kangana smiles, “I am not angry with them. This is business. It’s Ekta’s decision and she knows what is good for her film.”
She adds, “I don’t take these things personally. I am the heroine of the film, but if you don’t want to put me on the poster and put someone else, then why should I go and fight for my brand? If you don’t think I am good enough, it’s fine. There are others who think I am good; I’ll focus my energy on those who want me.”
Nonetheless, the actor is glad about the positive response she has got for her performance in the film.
She says, “I’m happy with the result. But I don’t know what to say… I guess they wanted me in the film, but not for the promotions.”
