I’m experienced in comedy, but it’s not easy: Riteish Deshmukh
Though humour comes naturally to actor Riteish Deshmukh, he does not consider it his favourite genre.
He turned his image around when he took up a grey role in Ek Villain (2014) but actor Riteish Deshmukh has always been associated with funny characters. But despite his great comic timing, the actor insists that comedy is just one of the many genres he wants to be part of. “My comfort lies in acting, and with the entire process of filming on the set. Acting that pushes you to do better. Because if I get comfortable working in a set genre, then it’s no fun. I can have a difficult day in any genre. It is not necessary that comedy is easy. I would say I am more experienced in comedy,” he says.

He has also tasted success as a producer with his Marathi films and he says that it has given him the opportunity to keep pushing the envelope when it comes to exploring themes. Talking about his plans, he says, “I’m making 3 Marathi films rights now, including a detective story. But I would love to do a horror film. The Conjuring (2013) was awesome. I like films such as Ring (1998) and What Lies Beneath (2000), films that play with your mind. The fear of the unknown works at the box office but there needs to be an underlying emotion in the story for the film to work exceedingly well. I also want to make a thriller. We haven’t come up with a great political thriller yet.”
