I support equal rights for the LGBT community: Priya Dutt
Politician Priya Dutt has been invited to attend an event organised by director Sanjay Sharma where the cast of the film is enacting a gay marriage. There will be haldi and mehendi ceremonies, which will be followed by a sangeet. When contacted via SMS Priya replied saying she supported equal rights for the LGBT community and decriminalisation.
Director Sanjay Sharma’s Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun... (2010) was based on gay relationships, and its storyline and visuals had raised a few eyebrows. Now, the makers of the film are planning a sequel to the movie, as they feel society is more liberal about homosexuality today, compared to what it was five years back.
Priya Dutt says she supports equal rights for the LGBT community.
A source from the unit reveals that the makers are organising a promotional event where the cast of the film will fictionally enact a gay marriage. Apparently, politician Priya Dutt has been invited to attend this event. “There will be haldi and mehendi ceremonies, which will be followed by a sangeet,” says the source.
When we contacted Priya via SMS, she replied to us, saying, “They were supposed to come and meet me, and give me a copy of their first film, and show me the concept of their second film. I support equal rights for the LGBT community and decriminalisation, this is a human rights issue. Regarding the movie, I haven’t confirmed anything yet (sic).”
