Bollywood stars such as Dia Mirza, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon were among the first to be spotted at the 2018 IIFA Awards’ ‘green carpet’. Pictures from the event were shared online by photographer Viral Bhayani.
Taken from the galleries beside the green carpet, the pictures show industry figures such as Anurag Kashyap, who arrived with his daughter Aaliya, Radhika Apte, Urvashi Rautela, Dia Mirza and Shraddha Kapoor, among others.
Shraddha and Varun Dhawan had a fun exchange in front of the cameras when Varun approached her and told the gathered press that she’d messaged him earlier in the day and informed him that she’d kick his a$$ with what she’s wearing. “Don’t even think of taking a picture with me,” she said, according to Varun.
Varun also interacted with a Chinese mediaperson who taught him to say the words ‘I love China’ in Chinese, which he did.
Anil Kapoor, speaking at a press event held prior to the ceremony, spoke about the time he thought the awards were rigged. “The first IIFA was in London. I was nominated for two films and of course, I said no, I cannot come. I thought these awards are totally rigged and I’m not going to come. (I thought) If I don’t go obviously they are not going to give me the award,” he said. “So the opposite happened, I wasn’t there I missed it and I (still) won two awards,” added the 61-year-old star.
The three-day gala is being held in Bangkok this year, across three evenings. The main awards night will be held on Sunday. Check out more pictures here.
