. Shabana Azmi, his wife, says, "Javed has written a fresh script. He’s working on the next stage."

Akhtar scripted big hits like Zanjeer (1973), Sholay (1975) and Deewaar (1975) with Salim Khan, and just last year he reportedly regretted being without work, even as he was fighting for lyricists like him to get a share of the royalty that music labels earn for songs.

In a recent interview, we had asked Farhan why he wasn’t getting his father to write a film for him and he said, "Both Zoya (Akhtar's sister) and I have constantly been telling him to write another script for a while. But, at the end of the day, how he wants to go about it is his decision entirely. It would be great if he writes for us. I don’t think he is avoiding us. I guess he’s just waiting to be inspired by something."

Ask Azmi if Farhan will make a film using his dad’s script and she refrains from divulging any details. "There is a new script, but I can’t say anything beyond this," she says.
