Kangana Ranaut upset over release of I Love NY opposite Sunny Deol

A long-stuck Kangana Ranaut film, I Love New Year, opposite Sunny Deol, is all set for a possible July release; the actor, however, is not very happy with the news.

Kangana Ranaut worked in I Love New Year opposite Sunny Deol a few years back. The romantic comedy was supposed to hit theatres more than two years ago, but owing to certain issues, the film, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, couldn’t see the light of the day. However, the project is now apparently set for a release in July.

Interestingly, sources claim that Kangana is not very kicked about the fact that an old film of hers is being released now. "Kangana is very particular about the kind of films she chooses now, and the direction in which her career should head. That’s why she was a bit surprised when she got to know that her film with Sunny is set for a release in July. She called up Bhushan (Kumar; the producer of the film) and had a long chat with him. She asked him about the stories doing the rounds regarding film’s release, as the makers had initially decided to shelve it. Bhushan told Kangana that they will sort out the matter amicably," says an insider.

While Kangana couldn’t be reached for a comment, Bhushan says that the film was "never shelved or canned". He adds, "Kangana and I have always been cordial, and have stayed in touch. As for the film, the release isn’t in my hands, since I had sold the rights of the film to some distributors back then itself. Now, it’s up to their (distributors) discretion, if and when they want to release the film."
