Actor Sushant Singh Rajput is excited about his first film as a solo hero — Shuddh Desi Romance. The one-film-old actor will be seen locking lips with actors Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor in the rom-com. “A kissing scene is same as killing somebody in the film. We have to be convincing. There is no sense of uncomfort. I don’t have any problem with it,” he explains.

The 27-year-old reveals that he had wanted to work with Parineeti since long. “I remember when I was shooting for Kai Po Che, I saw Ishaqzaade. I told Abhishek (Kapoor, director) that she is such a spontaneous, fab actor and I would really like to work with her. And luckily, I got to work with her in the next film. I learnt a lot from her,” he says. The former daily soap artist doesn’t want to be a star. “If you want to be a star, then you can compete with other stars. But if you just want to be an actor, you just want to learn and try different things. If I don’t get the right kind of films, I might go back to theatre or do short films. And I’ll be still as excited as I’m right now,” he says.

The actor, who has films like Peekay, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and the Great Expectations remake on his plate, plans to settle down soon with girlfriend, TV actor Ankita Lokhande. “We are just looking for the right time, and it can be anytime soon,” says Sushant, adding, “My entry in Bollywood hasn’t changed my relationship with her. It’s only that now we get to go to all these film awards.” What’s his take on link-ups? “I don’t think there will be any link-ups, as I’m so boring and have a steady girlfriend,” says Sushant.
