After the ruling Khans, there’s the new blood, and a whole lot of underdogs on whom the hopes from the film industry are pinned just as high.

According to film trade analyst Saurabh Varma, Ranbir Kapoor is expected to have a super run at the box office this year with Silence and Rockstar. “After commercial duds like Kites and Guzaarish, Hrithik Roshan will return to commercial cinema and that’s heartening for the viewers and the trade,” he adds.

Yamla Pagla Deewana and No One Killed Jessica are among the first captivating releases this year. “The content in No One Killed Jessica is more relatable, because right now the Arushi murder case is in news,” points out Varma. “7 Khoon Maaf seems interesting, but doesn’t seem to be the kind that will excite viewers outside metros.” Ajay Devgn, according to the industry masterminds, after delivering hits like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Golmaal 3 is a bankable name this year too, with the remake of Singham ready to roll out.

Editor of Film Street Journal, Bharti Pradhan, and President, PVR Pictures Kamal Gyanchandani, feel that among the actors, there will be a Kareena Kapoor festival of sorts at the cinemas this year, since most leading men have been paired with her in at least one film each. “No one is going to complain. Kareena is looking great. Even Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan will consolidate their presence in 2011,” echo Pradhan and Gyanchandani.
