Divya Khosla Kumar, wife of producer Bhushan Kumar, is all set to make her directorial debut. But she hit a bit of a roadblock when she decided to use Yaariyan as the new title for her film (It was initially titled Class of 2013). It seems, since the word features in a song from Cocktail, producer Saif Ali Khan had already copyrighted the title for future use.

That’s when Divya asked her producer hubby to talk to Saif: “Bhushan and Saif are great friends. When I told Bhushan about wanting the title, he spoke to Saif about it. And he (Saif) immediately agreed!”

Did they end up paying royalty for it? “No. It was really kind of Saif to give it to us for free,” says Divya.

We wonder what led to the change in name, though. Divya clarifies, “Class Of 2013 was a working title. It also sounded like the sort of film made for multiplex audiences. My film is for the masses, and Yaariyan suits it perfectly well.”

Since the cast consists entirely of newcomers, will any of Bhushan’s actor friends make a guest appearance? Divya says, “Such things are usually gimmicks, and I’ve frankly not thought about it. I’ll shoot the film as per the script and, if I feel the need to add special appearances, I’ll take a call then.”
