Neha Dhupia wants to meet Barack Obama during his visit to India to discuss the recession with him. The global slowdown resulted in the shock defeat of his party, the Democrats, recently.

The actor says that she’s not big or brave enough to bring that up with the US President. "But I’d definitely like to talk about recession that is a global issue and affects everyone from the man in New York to a dacoit in Meerut," reasons Dhupia, who describes herself as a "cautious spender" who’s never taken money for granted.

Neha DhupiaShe plays Munni Madam, a female Gabbar Singh apparently modelled on UP Chief Minister Mayawati. Co-starring Amole Gupte and Rajat Kapoor, Phas Gaye Re Obama bagged the Viewer’s Choice Award at the SAIFI film festival that concluded in New York this week. Two other films of Dhupia’s, I’m 24 and Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, also premiered there.

If she does manage to corner the world’s most powerful man, the actor plans to discuss his beautiful country and ours with him, touch on his election rallies and the American meltdown that shaped the script of this satire, chat about their love for sushi and then walk him into a preview theatre and screen her film for him.

Phas Gaye Re Obama is scheduled for release on December 3. Dhupia makes her debut as a singer in it. She had reserved an entire day for the rap song but wrapped it up in 15 minutes, leading writer-director Subhash Kapoor to say that she was truly talented.

Retorts Dhupia, “I told him I didn’t need to sing to prove that. For an urban girl to convincingly carry off the role of an underworld don in a small town was enough."
