Small budget films such as Dev.D (2009), Delhi Belly (2011) and Gangs of Wasseypur I and II (2012), have not only been doing well at the box office but are also discussed actively on online forums. This rise in their popularity was gauged by using a tool called Google Insights For Search, that affirms the frequency with which India searches for offbeat movies has increased drastically, between 2008 till date. As an example, search results for Dev.D and Gangs of Wassey-pur around the date of their release, were studied. The online interest generated for Gangs was much higher than Dev.D, though it too got a number of hits.
