Post retirement suggestions for Bollywood stars

Keeping their personalities - both in reel and real life - in mind, here are some tongue-in-cheek suggestions our Bollywood stars could use if and when they decide to retire from the entertainment industry.

As David Beckham announces his retirement, we suggest alternate careers for Bollywood stars after they bid adieu to the industry. Recently, British football star David Beckham shocked his fans by announcing his decision to hang up his boots at the end of this season after an illustrious 20-year career. And even as the ex-Manchester United mid-fielder walks off the field, we look at retirement plans that Bollywood’s biggest stars could opt for, tongue firmly in cheek.

The travel expert: Saif Ali Khan

The ideal vocation:
Hosting a travel show

Our take: Among his contemporaries, he clearly spends as much time up in the air (with his regular holiday trips across the globe with his wife Kareena Kapoor) as shooting for his films. So who better than Saif to host an all-inclusive travel show since he has already visited so many places?

We are sure Kareena will provide invaluable inputs for the Nawab of Pataudi whe it comes to this new career.

The food king: Akshay Kumarhttp://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/popup/2013/4/Amitabh_Gatsby.jpg

The ideal vocation:
Restaurant owner

Our take: Before whipping up masala-action fare on the big screen, Akshay worked as a chef and a waiter in Bangkok, Thailand. So we believe that since the actor already has the know-how of the restaurant business, he can easily attempt to rejig the food scene in India with maybe a special focus on Thai cuisine. What say, Akshay?

The tough guy: Ajay Devgn

The ideal vocation:
Security agency

Our take: We feel that Ajay comes across as one of the most fearless heroes in the industry. He’s poker faced, can take on five men at a time and is never injured. And he’s always the protective one. So starting a security agency in real life would make for an ideal career move. And who wouldn’t like someone like Ajay protecting them?

The love guru: Shah Rukh Khan

The ideal vocation:
Dispensing love advice

Our take: He’s been called the king of romance, ruling the film industry for the last two decades. With films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1994) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hain (1998) making him the most popular romantic hero, we feel he will make for a perfect relationship counsellor — one who tells you the do’s and don’ts of wooing women. And in real life too, SRK is the ultimate charmer winning girls over with his wit, one–liners and compliments.

The people person: Aamir Khan

The ideal vocation:
Social crusader

Our take: He is Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, famously known for his sharp thinking, intellect and out-of-the-box marketing ideas (remember Ghajini; 2008 and 3 Idiots; 2010?). Given these talents, Aamir could be the best candidate for a place in politics. Of course, he already has had a brush with social crusading through his much-talked-about TV show, Satyamev Jayate.

Salman-Khan
Salman-Khan

The talent hunter: Salman Khan

The ideal vocation:
Scouting for young talent in Bollywood, especially actresses

Our take: When Bollywood’s resident Dabangg cop isn’t breaking bones on the big screen, he is constantly scouting for new talents (read actresses). Remember Somy Ali, Katrina Kaif, Zareen Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Daisy Shah? Of course, it’s all the more interesting if the girls resemble his ex-girlfriends, such as Sneha Ullal in Lucky: No Time For Love (2005) and Zareen in Veer (2009).

The ideal mentor: Amitabh Bachchan

The ideal vocation:
Guiding new talents

Our take: From Zanjeer (1973), Deewar (1975), Hum (1991) and Agneepath (1990) to Black (2005) and Paa (2009), Big B’s towering presence in Bollywood has been a constant over the last five decades. Like his innumerable fans, we too don’t want to see Bachchan hang up his boots for a simple reason — it’s an impossible job for anyone to fill such big boots. And we need more Vijay Deenanath Chauhans and Auros from Shahenshah.
