Ketan Mehta's Rang Rasiya, which was released on November 7, is staring at an almost blank canvas. Despite the thumbs up from reviewers, the Randeep Hooda-starrer clocked in a dismal Rs 1.45 crore in two days since its release.

Ketan Mehta's Ranga Rasiya, starring Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen, clocked in a dismal Rs 1.45 crore in box office collections in two days since its release on November 7. Despite the thumbs up from reviewers, the film couldn't ward off stiff competition from Akshay Kumar's The Shaukeens, which was also released on the same day.

Rang Rasiya earned Rs 63 lakh on the opening day, and fared better in metros such as Mumbai (Rs 21 lakh) and Delhi-UP (Rs 13 lakh). However, the film fared very badly in tier-two cities on the opening day: Trade figures suggest that it collected Rs 5.5 lakh in Punjab, Rs 3.5 lakh in West Bengal, Rs 1 lakh in Bihar-Jharkhand and Rs 50,000 in Orissa.

Based on Ranjit Desai's biography of legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma, Rang Rasiya was received well by the critics, most of them calling it an "artistically made and aesthetically shot" film. Even Randeep Hooda's portrayal of Raja Ravi Varma has been hailed as the best performance of his career.
