In the film, Rani will don Sridevi’s look from Na Jaane Kahan Se (ChaalBaaz, 1989), Madhuri’s Dhak Dhak avatar (Beta, 1992) and Juhi’s style from Gazab Ka Hai Din (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, 1989). All three actors, who were the faces of cinema in the ’90s, are Rani’s favourites. She looks up to them and has grown up watching them and even enacting their moves and styles.

Aiyyaa is a story of a Marathi girl, Meenakshi Deshpande (Rani), who falls in love with a Tamil artist Surya (Prithviraj Sukumaran). It is a quirky love story and has the Marathi-Tamil cultural clash as its backdrop.
