Ranveer, Sonakshi to star in Lootera

India’s first director’s production house – Phantom – helmed by Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane has announced its first venture, Lootera. It will feature Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

To be directed by Motwane, the film stars Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Interestingly, it’s almost a homecoming of sorts for Motwane, since his first directorial was produced by mentor Kashyap and Bahl.

“All of us, including Madhu Mantena (partner), really enjoy working with each other. And the idea is to do things freely — while making films — without any pressure. Lootera is the perfect launch pad for Phantom because it’s a unique and quirky tale,” says Bahl.

The film will be shot in West Bengal and the hilly regions around that area. It will also bring back Dev D music composer Amit Trivedi for the soundtrack. “Amit is trying to capture the essence of the era and yet make it sound contemporary in his signature style,” says a unit member.

Lootera will be Ranveer’s first film outside the Yash Raj Films banner, which has produced his debut film, Band Baaja Baraat, and the upcoming Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. If the rumour mills are to be believed, Singh and Sinha are dating each other, though neither has never confirmed it.
