Another love story is in the offiing

Metrosexual man, uber-cool, hip, suave —these are some of the words commonly used to describe Saif Ali Khan. With his biggest hits being in the romantic comedy genre (Saif bagged a Best Actor National Award for Hum Tum), the star is confident about his next release, Cocktail. Saif’s friend and co-producer of Illumanti films, Dinesh Vijan, feels, “The romantic comedy genre belongs to Saif; he can do such films with ease as his comic timing is phenomenal.

He has a strong emotional connect with the audience, and is different in his own way in romantic comedies. In this particular genre, I can’t imagine anyone else doing it as well as he does.”

Both Saif and Vijan love the romantic comedy genre, and the duo has worked together on two rom-coms — Love Aaj Kal (2009) and the upcoming Cocktail. Vijan is so impressed that he is eager to make another romantic film with the actor, even before the fate of his present movie has been determined:

“We will make another love story soon after Cocktail,” he promises. While Saif has proved his mettle in romantic comedies, he has also experimented with dramatic and action films — Ek Hasina Thi (2004), Parineeta (2005), Omkara (2006), Kurbaan (2009), and Agent Vinod (2012) to name a few.

Vijan feels, “Saif is one of the best actors in the business. He can do any genre well. People love watching him even when he goes out of his comfort zone and experiments.” In Cocktail, Saif’s character Gautam isn’t the usual metrosexual man. Instead, the actor plays a happy-go-lucky Delhi guy who loves women, but doesn’t objectify them.
