Shraddha Kapoor grooves to Dance Basanti

Shraddha Kapoor features in a new song from Rensil D'Silva's directorial venture Ungli -- Dance Basanti -- 'a modern day twist' to the legendary Hema Malini character in Bollywood blockbuster Sholay.

Shraddha Kapoor has signed up for a glamorous avatar in an item song for Karan Johar's production venture Ungli. Shraddha features in a new song from Rensil D'Silva's directorial venture Ungli -- Dance Basanti -- 'a modern day twist' to the legendary Hema Malini character in Bollywood blockbuster Sholay.

With the foot-tapping number, Amitabh Bhattacharya has once again given some interesting lyrics. Sample a few lines:

"Gori tera thumka bada kinky kinky type da,....gori tera nakhra bada hamky-panky type...phatiture se ye dil ban jayega shehzaadaa"

The music is composed by Sachin-Jigar and Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchanda have lent their voices for the song.

Ungli stars Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.

Speaking about the song, Shraddha said, "I don't know whether to call it an item song or a promotional song, but yes, it's a very different thing that I am doing. Karan offered me the song and said: 'You have never been seen like this before. It's a very glamorous song.' So all that excited me and I said yes to it. The moment I heard the song, I was all the more excited as it's such a catchy song,"

Dance Basanti is choreographed by Bosco-Caesar.

So is there a basanti aka Hema Malini referrence from Sholay? "I guess, it's definitely a take from original Basanti. It's a modern day twist. I can't compare myself with Hemaji's Basanti. She is the original legendary Basanti," the actor said.
