The film which is a launch pad for Taurani’s son Girish Kumar, is produced by Tips Industries Ltd banner. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in it. “I was in Canada when I got a call for the film and without even reading the script, I immediately said, ‘Yes, I will definitely do it’,” the 40-year-old said here in an interview.

“This is because when I came to Mumbai 10 years ago, I met Rameshji (Taurani) and asked him, ‘When will I get a film?’ And he said, ‘Very soon.’ But it took him 10 years to take me (in a movie),” Sonu added, who has also been signed by Taurani for an Akshay Kumar-starrer. In Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya, directed by Prabhudeva, set for July 19 release, Sonu plays Shruti’s strict brother.
