He is already famous as a stand-up comic. But a few days back, reports suggested that Sunil Grover, aka Gutthi — who has done bit roles in a few films — has bagged the parallel lead part with Akshay Kumar in the latter’s next, Gabbar. But the film’s director, Krish, refutes these talks.

“It’s an out-and-out Akshay Kumar film. Let me clarify that Sunil only has a supporting part, but it will be an important one though,” says Krish, who makes his directorial debut with the film.

Apparently, Sunil’s character will be part of many funny scenes. “The film is a mix of comedy and drama. It’s too early to reveal the intricacies of the character,” says Krish.

When contacted, Sunil – who is getting ready for his new comedy TV show – says, “I can’t talk about the film yet since I have been asked not to.” But what about the reports suggesting that he is playing the ‘parallel lead’ with Akshay? “I haven’t said anything (about that). And I am not aware of it. Let me find out more,” he says.

Apart from Akshay and Shruti Haasan, the film will also feature Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood. Kareena Kapoor Khan will make a special appearance in a dance number.
