Finally there is some solace for Ranbir Kapoor who is desperate for a hit film in his kitty. The actor is going through a bad patch after the failures of his three consecutive films: Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet. Now, when he is back with his Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali, he can breathe a sigh of relief as Tamasha garnered Rs 10.8 crore on its opening day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the film’s collection on the first day and said it was going strong at multiplexes and metros.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was released on Friday with a massive three-week window in India to rake in the moolah. The next big releases are Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, both releasing on December 18. Made at an estimated budget of Rs 60 crore, the film should see a good collection over the weekend.

Ranging from average to outstanding, Tamasha opened to mixed reviews. The film features a regular guy who meets carefree girl in Deepika Padukone and falls in love with her. However, it doesn’t go far as Kapoor’s character fails to change his usual lifestyle.
