The Shaukeens BO: With mere Rs 13.24 crore, no windfall for Akshay over weekend
Despite the critics dissing Akshay Kumar's The Shaukeens, the remake of Basu Chatterjee's classic, opened to a decent collection of Rs 3.8 crore on opening day. The collections, however, tapered over the weekend, and at Rs 13.24 crore, it's nowhere near the figure that would have brought even a faint smile on the producer's face.Updated: Nov 10, 2014 18:42 IST
Akshay Kumar's co-production The Shaukeens, which was released on November 7, could rake in only Rs 13.24 crore over the first weekend.
Despite critics dissing the film, it could only touch the abysmal Rs 3.8 crore mark of collections on the opening day, improving marginally over Saturday (Rs 4.36 crore) and Sunday (Rs 5.08 crore).
Directed by Tere Bin Laden-fame's Abhishek Sharma, The Shaukeens, has Akshay Kumar playing an 'alcoholic version' of himself in an extended cameo.
Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra reprise the roles of Ashok Kumar, AK Hangal and Utpal Dutt respectively in the movie while Lisa Hayden plays the part of Rati Agnihotri from the Basu Chatterjee classic.
