David Dhawan advises his son, Varun Dhawan, to go through Amitabh Bachchan’s world tour videos from the past before leaving for his maiden world tour in August.
Over the years, several Bollywood actors have been inspired by Amitabh Bachchan. Now, HT Café has learnt that director David Dhawan has advised his son, Varun Dhawan, to “check out” Bachchan’s world tour videos from the past before he leaves for his first-ever tour in August.
“Now that I am getting ready for the world tour, dad is very keen that I watch Amitji’s videos,” says Varun. David adds, “I remember, Amitji’s world tours used to be outstanding, especially his finale. He used to leave the audience spellbound, like a true superstar.”

Besides Big B’s videos, David has also asked Varun to watch films starring Dev Anand and Mehmood, along with several other foreign language movies. Varun, though, says he has been a “big fan” of his father’s work. “That’s not just because I am his son. I have always enjoyed that kind of cinema,” he says.

The father-son duo will soon begin work on the sequel to the 1997 hit, Judwaa. “One of the characters that dad has [scripted] for me is going to be masculine and a bit stronger than the roles I have done till now. So, that will be a challenge,” says Varun.
David adds that the two characters his son will essay “will be playing [out] against each other”. “There will be a lot of fun, but loads of emotions too,” says the director.
