We want to be fooled: Abhimanyu Singh on Global Baba

Abhimanyu Singh of Gulaal, Rakht Charitra and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela fame was shocked during the shooting of Global Baba. In the film, Abhimanyu plays a self-proclaimed spiritual guru with a criminal background, who goes on to have lakhs of devotees.

(2013) fame was shocked during the shooting of his next, Global Baba. In the film, Abhimanyu plays a self-proclaimed baba (spiritual guru) with a criminal background, who goes on to have lakhs of devotees.

Interestingly, spectators who were present on the sets of the film at Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, eventually became part of the film and they behaved like his devotees in real life.

They started sharing their problems and believed that Abhimanyu can help them, despite knowing that he was an actor and was just playing his part.

"It was shocking for me to see how adamant they were in their belief that I can solve their problems. In India, people still want an image to connect to and, even if it’s a false one, they will stick to it. We are ready and want to be fooled by someone or the other, be it a baba or a politician," says Abhimanyu.
