Will Saif give Bollywood its first 100 crore musical rom-com?
Though Saif Ali Khan had all the right reasons to believe that he had his brightest chances to join the club with Agent Vinod (which didn't quite happen), all eyes are on whether his Cocktail would manage to achieve this feat for him.

However, there is a twist in the tale here. Even though close to a dozen odd films have done a business of over 100 crores just in India, none of these have boasted of a rom-com musical genre. Most of these films have been action comedies or hardcore 'maar-dhaad' affairs which means that if and when a film like
enters the league, it would be a first.
"Romance as a genre is popular but history shows that no such film has made it to the 100 crore club yet. The business has ranged from 60-90 crore mark. In fact
itself finds itself in that zone and so does Shah Rukh Khan's
, Imran Khan's
and Ranbir Kapoor's
, each of which has fallen in this range", adds a veteran, "With Saif aiming at 100 crores here, it's a huge milestone to cross."
Not an impossible one though if response to the promos and music are any indication. With the film fetching good attention to itself and debutant Diane Penty too standing out as a fresh face, there are many inside the industry and amongst the 'junta' who are positive that this is one film that could well achieve the feat.
"Well, one can only wait and watch to see if this is indeed possible", adds a trade source, "For starters, the film is expected to see the biggest and widest ever release for a Saif starrer and record number of prints would be floated around. Now if the 100 crore target is indeed met, Saif can well expect to wipe off the disappointment of
and celebrate with some 'cocktails' on the house."
