Remember the picturesque shots of Gulmarg and Pahalgam from Yash Chopra’s 1981 classic, Silsila? Now, over three decades later, the filmmaker has returned to those same locations where he had once canned several scenes with Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. “Audiences will be reminded of those beautiful locales. Yashji loves Kashmir and he has always wanted to shoot there. But for a while he couldn’t do that due to the militancy issues,” says a unit member.

The veteran is currently working on his next untitled directorial, with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. The actors too, as a result, are reliving the experiences Big B and Rekha had while shooting for Silsila. The unit shot in Pahalgam for around a week, before moving to Gulmarg. “Now, we will move towards Srinagar to complete the rest of the (final)schedule. The unit is likely to shoot around the Zabarwan Hills, Dal Lake and Lal Chowk,” says the unit member. Although the makers remained unavailable for a comment, the spokesperson for the film says, “At this moment, all we can say is that Kashmir, as a filming location, is extremely close to Yashji. That’s why even after so many years he has chosen to shoot in the state.”

Chopra’s venture, which also stars Anushka Sharma, is set to release on Diwali (November 13) this year. It will clash with Ajay Devgan’s upcoming film, Son Of Sardaar.
