Loved reading the adventures of Winnie the Pooh while growing up? Well, Pooh and several other Disney characters come alive at this year’s children’s fest at Crossword.

The fest started in 2004 when kids would read their favourite books and get to buy them at discounted prices at this annual event at the bookstore.

This year, the theme is all things Disney and it includes all four categories for the first time — books, toys, movies and stationary.

Incidentally, the fest has always had a theme. This time, Crossword has tied up with Disney and therefore will offer special prices on its merchandise. “The entire store including the merchandise will revolve around this theme,” says Sivaraman Balakrishnan, deputy head of marketing, Crossword.

There are discounts and offers on Disney’s books, DVDs, VCDs, toys and stationary. Your cute, little girl can get a princess makeover, while your boy can go get the Johnny Depp look from Pirates Of The Caribbean. Other fun activities include ceramic tile painting, bag making, mug painting, ornament making and fridge magnet making. These creative activities are on only on weekends till May 23. But you can avail of the discounts on all days till the fest is on.

There will also be story-telling sessions on Peter Pan, Lion King and Mickey Mouse. Balakrishnan explains that this was a good time to hold the fest because kids are in a holiday mood. “People start contemplating vacations by May end, so this was the best time to execute the event,” he reasons.
