I envy Bollywood’s way of celebrating culture: James Hart

James V Hart, the popular writer who’s penned down screenplays for films such as August Rush, Hook and Epic, feels that Indian film industry is very different from other industries.

James V Hart, the popular writer who’s penned down screenplays for films such as August Rush, Hook and Epic, feels that Indian film industry is very different from other industries.

"What Bollywood films do that our English language films are desperate to do is incorporate the element of music, song, and dance into our stories, without the mandate of being a movie musical. Bollywood celebrates the Indian culture of dance and music in every possible and unpredictable way. I envy that and enjoy the hell out of the experience," says Hart,who will be attending the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2014.

James further revealed how he is in love with Indian cinema and has been visiting the country through the years. "This is my third trip to India, including 2012 visit to Delhi as a judge for the film festival. I got myself a five year visa, so I am planning on visiting quite a bit. My old and new friends in India will see a lot of me. The people are full of life and have incredible energy that I want to tap into, in my own work, and in my writer’s life," he said.
