Veteran journalist Saeed Naqvi’s new book that’s part memoir and part rumination on the othering of Muslims in India looks at everything from the syncretic culture of Awadh to the creation of Pakistan and the emergence of the Indian middle class. A book that will make the reader review what’s known of the nation’s post independence history, it is erudite and wide in scope; a truly rewarding read.
