Three famous authors allow us to enter their homes and take notice of how they stock their valued literature.
Author Anuja Chauhan at her Gurgaon home has streamlined her books collection in beautiful wooden cabinets. She with her family often rearranges their book collection according to authors for easy reference. Chauhan says, “There are books all over our house. So, to stock them well, we have colourful book cabinets with glass doors custom made according to my own designs. We’ve used glass doors so they are easily visible and are kept in order. But I avoid keeping our children’ s book in cabinets and their books are kept neatly in open.”
Author Ira Trivedi has a huge collection of books that has been stored in various over-brimming cabinets at her house. The traditionally done study room at her Gurudwara Road residence has part of her book collection stocked in various side cabinets. She says, “We have book cabinets over-brimming with our books collection at oue house. So, now I have started reading on my Ipad. But for the house, I prefer keeping an eclectic mix of bookshelves and racks. A few book cabinets are custom made and others are picked from different places. I love the antique-look book racks, so I have picked them from places such as Chor Bazaar in Mumbai and from Bali.”
Meenakshi Reddy has segregated her books collection and has stocked the massive chunk of her books collection in her living room. While, her study room has the rest of her favourites on photography. Meenakshi says, “I have recently shifted to my Nizamuddin West house and I prefer using open bookshelves or racks to keep my books as it allows me to see them comfortably. There are a few inbuilt shelves in the house where I stock the books and a few book racks that I have picked myself.”
