‘Don’t miss Parliament at all’: PM Modi tells leaders at BJP parliamentary meet
In the first two days of the second leg of the budget session, Parliament witnessed an uproar over rising fuel prices.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday told BJP leaders to not skip the budget session of Parliament at all. As the BJP MPs met for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, the Prime Minister also highlighted the tough year due to the outbreak of the disease.

Union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar were also present at the party's parliamentary meeting.

"Good thing is that all the BJP MPs will sit together again in one hall and get the opportunity to listen to our popular leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Parliamentary party meeting was suspended. But now, the meeting is going to be held again," a BJP MP earlier told news agency ANI.
Modi also spoke about the importance of celebrations marking the 75 years of India’s independence. The central government has formed a committee of 259 members, including former President Pratibha Patil, former prime ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Devegowda, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, to commemorate the 75 years. The committee, headed by PM Modi, on Monday discussed modalities related to preparatory activities for the celebrations to mark the occasion.
The second half of the budget session is currently underway and will conclude April 8.
As reported by HT earlier, BJP MPs on Wednesday said that Parliament may close after March 25 in view of the upcoming assembly elections in four states and a union territory. Also, Parliament will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, parliamentary minister Prahald Joshi told the MPs. He also informed that the finance bill will be tabled on March 19.

On Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha got adjourned twice during the pre-lunch period as Opposition parties demanded a discussion over the spike in fuel prices. The house was first adjourned till noon for nearly 40 minutes and then again till 2pm as opposition leaders raised slogans and demanded a cut in prices of petrol and diesel.
